A small payment amount, referred to as a visit deposit, will be required from uninsured patients at the time of service. Patients having multiple visits will be required to pay a deposit for each visit.

An urgent care typically treats non-life threatening conditions, some of which include common colds, flu, strep throat, lacerations and more.
An emergency room treats conditions in need of immediate attention, some of which include chest pain, abdominal pain, dehydration, complex fractures, and much more.
Selecting the right facility can make a big difference in the financial outcome of your visit. When choosing an ER for treatment when you are not experiencing an emergency means you will substantially overpay for your treatment. If you choose urgent care when you need emergency care, you may add an unnecessary cost and, more importantly, possibly waste valuable time being transferred to a facility that is capable of treating your condition.
To solve this problem, we created MUSC Health Emergency and Urgent Care, where both paths of care are under one roof. Each facility is equipped to handle the seriousness of any emergency. But if your care requires lower acuity needs, we can use urgent care billing rates. As a patient, you do not have to try to self-triage on where to go when you need care. At MUSC Health Emergency and Urgent Care, your bill will reflect only the care you require to treat your condition. Why is this significant? Because 44-65% of national ER visits could have been treated and billed at urgent care rates, but weren’t.

Our care team will quickly assess your child’s needs and provide them with the appropriate level of care.
If your child is sick or injured, get medical help to prevent their condition from worsening. Ignoring symptoms may cause a less serious issue to become an emergency. Continue reading more on Pediatric Care at MUSC Children's Health.
